Terry Michael Storlie, of Mount Pleasant, Arkansas departed this world on Friday, July 15th, 2022 to be with his heavenly father and family.
Terry, a Viking, affectionately known as Poppy by family and friends, was fiercely loved and will be deeply missed. He was a Christian who loved Jesus and a member of Barren Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Those who knew him remember him being the strong, loving heart of his family. He was a hard-working, selfless man who lived to better the lives of his wife, kids and grandkids. From helping to build his children’s family homes, to teaching his grandchildren how to fish, there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his family. His joy came from spending quality time with them, sharing old stories and telling jokes to get a reaction out of his grandkids especially, which made him grin from ear to ear. Every summer he took pride in working on Poppy’s swimming hole, which was enjoyed by family, friends and members of the community. When he wasn’t spending time with his family and friends, he enjoyed riding his Harley with his Chickie and restoring his 1958 Corvette.
Terry was born on July 11, 1941, in Gary, Indiana to Carroll and Bertha “Peg” Storlie. After leading his high school football team to a record winning season-they went eight straight in ’58-he joined the Army and spent several years in Europe. Upon leaving the Army, he returned to Illinois and met his future wife, Theresa, affectionately known as Chickie. Terry and Theresa were married on September 3rd, 1966 in Libertyville, Illinois and within two years started their family. Throughout his career, his excellent work ethic made Terry a legend at Eastman Chemical. His colleagues can attest to his finesse, tactfulness and diplomatic wordsmithing while on the job.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Wayne, Richard and Dennis.
He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Storlie of the home; his children, Mitzi (Danny) Fitzgerald of New River, AZ, Chris (Kelly) Storlie of Bentonville, AR, Jenny (Roddy) Little of Rogers, AR, Amy (Brandon) Love of Mt. Pleasant, AR and Joe (Michelle) Storlie of Farmington, AR; along with 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many in-laws.
A memorial service celebrating his life will take place at Barren Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant on Monday, July 18th, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Alan Meinzer officiating. Visitation will start at 1:00 pm prior to service.
