Teressa Downs (pictured above, right, with Citizens Bank’s Jeffrey Freiert), the Batesville School District’s transportation route supervisor, received the August “Citizens Bank Above & Beyond” award at Monday’s Batesville School Board meeting.
Since 2012, Citizens Bank and the Batesville School District have recognized staff members who go “above and beyond” to realize the district’s mission to empower today’s students for tomorrow’s challenges. Staff in all schools and departments throughout the district nominate award recipients, who receive a Certificate of Excellence, a $25 gift card, and a 16-ounce insulated cup from Citizens Bank. The award is presented at the Batesville School Board meeting each month.
Teressa’s job is different every day, which requires her to quickly adapt using out-of-the-box thinking, while also paying close attention to detail, the bank said in a release. Her peers notice her ability to tackle and overcome these challenges to put #StudentsFirst at Batesville.
They said:
“Teressa Downs is indispensable. Her knowledge and insight about our transportation department is superior. Besides our daily operations, she manages all bus trips for extracurricular activities, including athletics, field trips, specialized transportation, and more. If you cannot find her in the office, she is probably driving a bus on one of our numerous routes.”
“Teressa Downs plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of our district. Because of the work she does, over 1,500 students riding 32 bus routes are delivered to school and back home almost seamlessly each day. This is an ever-changing task that requires attention to detail and thinking outside of the box.”
“Recently, Teressa willingly assumed the role of maintenance and transportation department bookkeeper and has excelled in her new duties. She is a prime example of going above and beyond the call of duty.”
