Fans of the Batesville Pioneers celebrated the new school year with a community pep rally Friday, Aug. 19, at Pioneer Stadium. Ryan Morrow, the new head football coach, and his staff were welcomed along with this year’s slate of Pioneers.

Batesville School District Communications Coordinator Megan Renihan said the rally was a huge success.

“Thank you to our fans for coming out and supporting our students,” she said. “We are excited for the school year and hope to see a full house for all extracurriculars.”

Renihan also noted that Batesville School District students in the sixth through twelfth grades will be able to attend all home games for free “…as a way to encourage school spirit, positive mental health outlets, and a safe and secure space for students to gather.”
BSD students in the seventh through twelfth grades and all district employees will also receive a Batesville Community Center annual pass to help encourage the same implementations.
Menihan said the district was able to utilize ESSER (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief) funds from the state for the above initiatives.
