Sandra Dene Southern, 68, of Mountain View, Arkansas, passed away on August 28th, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born July 21st, 1954, in Mountain View, Arkansas to Lucine and Wylodene George Barnes.
In 1971, Sandra started her career in nursing, working with Dr. Beck, in Mountain View. She helped deliver over half the babies born in Stone County for fifteen years. Her forty-year nursing career led her to work at UAMS, St. Vincent, Arkansas Heart Hospital, and finally retire from Stone County Medical Center. Her true passion was being a Registered Nurse and helping others.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, being a homemaker, and spending time with her puppies. Sandra was loved by many people and will be greatly missed.
She was survived by two sons, Richard Southern (Shanny) of Fifty-Six, Arkansas and Phillip Southern of Mountain View, Arkansas; two grand-dogs, Abbey and Coco. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
Sandra is preceded in death by her loving husband, Junior Southern; parents, Lucine and Wylodene Barnes; two brothers, Nick Barnes and Rick Barnes; one sister, Teresa Ketchum.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 31st, 2022, beginning at 2:00 P.M. at the Freeman Cemetery, in Big Flat, Arkansas. Brother Junior Barham will officiate the service.
Pallbearers are Phillip Southern, Richard Southern, Bob Collister, Scott Sefton, Curt McClanahan, and Casey McClanahan.
