After agreeing at an earlier meeting to sell the current Batesville Police Department property at the entrance of the industrial park, the Batesville City Council will address resolutions proposing the purchase of properties for the police department’s move to a more central location at tonight‘s council meeting.
The new property, located at 710 St. Louis St., was the area home of Entergy/AP&L for many years. It sits across St. Louis Street from the new Citizens Bank headquarters.
The resolution calls for a purchase price of $850,000 from the owner, First Community Bank. The council will then address a resolution to purchase property at 1050 Oak St., adjacent to the former Entergy property, for $125,000, as well as, a resolution to purchase lots 1 and 2 of the School Addition for $150,000. The properties will be utilized for additional police department parking
The council will also address a resolution calling for the city to purchase the Food Truck Lot at 201 S. Central Ave. in central Batesville to develop the property with a pavilion, green space, splash pad, and food truck lot. The purchase price is $150,000 from Vida Enterprises, a limited liability company.
The council will also discuss a resolution to accept the low bid and enter into a contract with a construction company to build a facility to house all of the maintenance, construction, street, sanitation, water, and landscape departments and related equipment. The location will house all departments under one roof. The bid was just under $6 million.
And the council will also address an ordinance extending the Vital Link ambulance service franchise agreement for five more years.
In addition, the council will honor Fire Chief Brent Gleghorn and Lieutenant Bill Johnson for their service to the city upon their retirement.
The Batesville City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Batesville Municipal Building at 500 East Main St.
