Betty Ann Young Coles
of Southside, Ark.
March 24, 1937 – October 13, 2022
Betty Ann Young Coles, age 85, of Southside, passed away October 13 peacefully at home surrounded by family.
She was retired from the Independence County Library after 40 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her father, John L. Young and her mother, Georgia Sheffield Young; a brother, Bobby Young; and a sister, Johnnie Jeffrey.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, William L. (Bill) Coles; a daughter, Marie Phillips, grandson, Brian Phillips and his wife, Regiane; two great-grandsons, Riley Phillips and Murillo Costa; a sister, Kathy Varnell; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was a member of the Southside Church of Christ. She enjoyed hosting holiday dinners for her family, traveling with her husband after retirement (especially to the Smoky Mountains), reading the newspaper cover to cover, and going out to eat with friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville.
