Downtown Batesville will celebrate arts and music this Saturday as Artoberfest takes over Main Street.
The Batesville Area Arts Council (BAAC) is hosting the sixth annual Artoberfest, an arts and music festival on Main Street, Saturday, Oct. 22, from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.
The festival will feature over 35 local and regional artist vendors; art demonstrations; live music by Ed Casper, Luke Middleton, and the Osage Water Band; and other family fun activities.
Artoberfest will also feature a sidewalk chalk art contest. According to a release from the BAAC, the competition aims to engage students, teachers, families, community groups, and others by creating temporary public art. Trophies will be awarded to the top designs in two age groups, Kindergarten through sixth grade and junior high through college. K – sixth grade students will compete from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and junior high – college students will compete from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. All contestants must pre-register to compete. Find full details and the free registration form on our website: (batesvilleareaartscouncil.org).
The one-day festival is free for the community to enjoy thanks to BAAC sponsors. This year’s festival is presented by Citizens Bank and sponsored by First Community Bank, Southern Bank, and Bank of Cave City.
