Stone County authorities have released more information on Saturday’s discovery of a Mountain View man who had been missing since Oct. 16.

According to Stone County Chief Deputy Sheriff Dammon McGilton, Danny Joe Archer, 75, was found at the end of Airport Drive, down an old logging road in the vicinity of the old Hinkle Farm.

McGilton said a man driving to look at property lines discovered Archer lying next to his vehicle on the logging road. The chief deputy said the man who found Archer initially thought Archer was deceased when the man alerted authorities. After the authorities arrived on the scene, McGilton said they discovered Archer was actually still alive.

Archer was taken to the Stone County Medical Center and then air-lifted to a Little Rock hospital. McGilton said Archer is listed in stable and good condition, with an expected full recovery.

McGilton said the department appreciates the assistance it received in the search for Archer. He mentioned many volunteers and agencies, including the Mountain View Police Department, Mountain View Fire Department, Arkansas Game & Fish, the local EMS, and Baxter County Air Patrol.
