Undefeated Mountain View ends regular season with win over Cedar Ridge

The Mountain View Yellowjackets used a strong rushing attack, scoring six rushing touchdowns, as they wrapped up an undefeated regular season with a 54-12 victory over the Cedar Ridge Timberwolves on Friday.

In the first quarter, Mountain View scored three times: an eight-yard rushing touchdown by Jace Tinkle; a 79-yard touchdown run by Drew Shelton; and a 10-yard touchdown run by Trampas Stubbs to lead 24-0.

They continued the strong offensive showing in the second quarter adding a 14-yard touchdown run by Laddie Sims and a three-yard touchdown run by Stubbs to take a 38-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, Mountain View increased their lead to 46-0 with a 31-yard touchdown run by Drew Isbell. Cedar Ridge added two rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter by quarterback Aiden Jones. Mountain View wrapped up their scoring with a 67-yard touchdown pass from Kenner Gray to Jack Newton.

Mountain View totaled 405 yards and was led offensively by Shelton who had 114 yards on five carries and one rushing touchdown. He also was 4-6 passing for 60 yards.

Newton had two receptions for 79 yards and one receiving touchdown. Gray had one reception for 17 yards, and he was 1-1 passing for 67 yards for one passing touchdown.

Cedar Ridge was led by Jones who had 124 yards rushing on 25 carries and two rushing touchdowns, and he also was 5-15 passing for 79 yards.

Defensively, Mountain View was led by Landon Goins with 10 tackles, Rush Sullivan added nine tackles with two sacks. Laddie Sims also had nine tackles and one sack. And Dakota Hancock added eight tackles.

Mountain View improved to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in conference play and Cedar Ridge finished their season at 4-4 overall and 3-4 in conference play.

Next week begins the first round of the Class 3A/4A 8-man playoffs as Mountain View will have the #1 seed and they will host #4 seeded Genoa Central at Yellowjacket Stadium in Mountain View.
