Mary Henson, 75, of Newport departed this life on Sunday, November 6, 2022. She was born in Newport on November 29, 1946, to Robert E. Cullins Sr. and Irene Johnson Cullins.
Mary graduated from Newport High School. After graduating she was in the first LPN class at White River Vo-Tech, attending the program before the building was even built. She did her training at Harris Hospital. She retired in 2014, after forty years of nursing. She loved nursing and her patients. In her younger years, she loved being outside and enjoying the sunshine. In her later years, she enjoyed going to casinos.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Kory Watkins.
She is survived by her son, Douglas Henson Jr. (Kristen) of Benton; her daughter, Kim Watkins (Shawn Kinard) of Newport; her brothers, Buddy Cullins (Retha) of Searcy; her grandchildren, Derek Hatler (Lori) of Batesville, Alex Watkins of Newport, Kevin Watkins of Batesville, Jaide Henson, Amber Henson, Krystle Henson, Saphfire Henson, Emma Henson and Amy Henson; seventeen great-grandchildren; her close friends, Doug Henson Sr. of Newport, workers at Harris Hospital, Home Health and Pinedale Nursing Home.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Derek Hatler, Kevin Watkins, Josh Kinard, Luke Cullins and Shawn Kinard.
Graveside service will be officiated by Buddy Cullins at 2:00 on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
