Patricia Merle Matheny Whitaker of Batesville, Arkansas was reunited with her beloved husband, Bob, on November 2, 2022. She was born May 22, 1947, in Sidney, Arkansas. Patricia and Bob married when she was just 17. They started their lives together in Batesville but made Ft. Worth, Texas their home for most of their 34-year marriage.
Patricia was a highly intelligent woman. She was a valued employee at Guinn, Smith and Company working as a Payroll Specialist. She was also a Payroll Certification Instructor at Northlake College. Most recently she was a dedicated volunteer at Independence County Senior Citizens Center. Patricia proudly accepted a certificate of appreciation acknowledging her status as top volunteer for the year 2021 having served 427 hours. She was a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary Post 4501 and served a term as Chaplain. Patricia was an avid reader, loved old movies, the history channel, being on the winning quiz bowl team and had a delightful sense of humor. Never having children of her own, she thought of herself as a second mom to her younger siblings.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Whitaker, parents Allison and Merle Matheny, brothers Larry Matheny and Michael Matheny and father and mother-in-law Bob and Carman Whitaker. Left to celebrate Patricia’s life are brother Curtis Matheny, brother and sister-in-law Richard and Shirley Matheny, sister Carolyn Wammack all of Batesville, Arkansas, and sister and life partner Tammy Rogers and Ervin “Blu” Davis of Arlington, Texas. She had many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
May Patricia’s soul Rest in Peace and may Light perpetual shine upon her.
A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date.
