A 7-year-old child was taken to the hospital after an accident involving a float in the Newport Christmas Parade on Thursday night.
Police Chief Larry Dulaney told Region 8 News that the child was on a float throwing candy when he lost his balance and fell under a flatbed trailer.
Dulaney said the boy’s legs were run over, and he was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
