A Mountain View man has been charged by authorities with failure to comply with registration and reporting requirements as a sex offender — a Class C felony.
The court information that was filed in Stone County Circuit Court says a person is guilty of the felony if the person fails to report in person a change of address, employment, education or training as required by law.
The information said on May 13, 2019, Brandon Clay Mills, 22, was found guilty of second-degree sexual assault and was later placed on parole. His obligation was to inform parole officials of a change in residence, change in employment, or change in his social status.
The court record said Mills signed the Sex Offender Acknowledgement Form, which informed Mills, in writing, of his obligation to inform State of Arkansas parole agents of his whereabouts and social status at all times.
Yet, he went to work at the Circle K store in Mountain View on Nov. 30, 2022, and failed to notify his Sex Offender Registration Officer as required under the law, the court information said.
When Mills was asked why he didn’t report that he had a job as well as a cell phone to his officer, Mills said, “I forgot,” according to the court documents.
Mills (pictured below) was placed in the Stone County Detention Center, awaiting a court appearance. He is also being charged as a habitual offender. His bond was set at $25,000.
