George Raymond Halpain, 78, of Mountain View, Arkansas departed this life on Sunday, December 25, 2022, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born Monday, December 20, 1943, in Mountain View, Arkansas to the late Oscar and Geneva (Childers) Halpain.
George lived most of his life in East Moline, Illinois. When he retired he came back to Mountain View, Arkansas where he built his house with his own hands.
George is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Nina Morgan; two infant sisters; two brothers, Johnny Halpain, Frank Halpain; two nieces, Fredia Halpain, Donna Jean Halpain; two nephews, William Halpain, Ronald Halpain.
Left to cherish his memory are; his son, Alvin Lee Halpain of Iowa; daughter, Amy Stevens; seven grandchildren; seven nieces; seven nephews and many other cousins and friends.
He was of the Baptist faith and loved going to church and family gatherings. George loved to visit with people and was known for spending time in the court square in Mountain View, listening to music. In the morning hours George could be found at one of the restaurants drinking coffee and visiting with friends or anyone he met.
We will truly miss him.
Funeral services for George will be 2 PM Thursday, December 29, 2022, at East Richwoods Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will follow at Case Cemetery. Brother Larry Howard will officiate. Pallbearers will be Johnny Halpain, Bobby Halpain, Jason Miller, Roger Knapp, Dale Hershberger, Max Newcomb. Honorary Pallbearers will be Clyde Parker, Aubrey Sloan, Boyd Sloan, Derrick Wright, Danny Smith.
