Jimmie H. Whitfield, loving husband, father, papaw, brother, and friend passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, surrounded by family.
Jimmie was born to Bernice Sanders and Howard Whitfield on Monday, August 29, 1938, in Pineville, AR, and was the eldest sibling of three children including Max and Charles. At 18 years of age, he married the love of his life, Donnie Decker and they began their family with two daughters, Cindy and Tammy. Jimmie and Donnie built a beautiful marriage of 66 years. Jimmie and Donnie’s family grew to include two sons-in-law: Mike Owens and Kevin Polczynski, Grandchildren: Nick, Ben, Zac, Jonna and Great-grandchildren: Phoenix, Sydney, Jaxon, Sayer, and Elyse. He is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, and a host of long-time friends.
While Jimmie was most proud of his family, he was also a successful businessman. After many years at ARKLA, his accomplishments include area supervisor for AR, LA, TX and OK. He worked tirelessly to advocate for the safety and public utilities as a registered lobbyist both locally and in Washington, D.C. Jimmie was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Mountain View, Arkansas.
Jimmie enjoyed combining his hobbies of golfing, fishing, and watching the Razorbacks, and Cardinals with family and friends. His faith and love of life will be exemplified by those he leaves behind.
A celebration of Jimmie’s life is planned for Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Flatwoods Baptist Church in Mountain View, AR. Services will be under the direction of his nephew, Rodney Whitfield.
