Helen Ann Parman, 92, of Batesville died Sunday, January 1, 2023, at her home.

Born April 19, 1930, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Lawrence O’Quinn and S.P. Doche Walker O’Quinn. She attended Nurses Training in San Angelo, Texas, in 1949 where she met and married Robert Ray “Bob” Parman who was a photographer and later pilot in the United States Air Force. Married for sixty-two years, they moved to Batesville, Arkansas, in 1974 after Bob’s retirement from military service.

During their time in the military, Helen and Bob lived in many states and countries, and are credited with starting mission churches in Japan, the State of Washington, Hot Springs, Arkansas, and Batesville, Arkansas. They were members of First Baptist Church Batesville since 1974, and Helen owned and operated “The Needlepoint” store in Batesville for several years. Helen also served many years as Chaplain of the Independence County Jail.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister, and her husband.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Mark Robert and Mary Parman of Centennial, Colorado; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Ann and Gene Tulberg of Batesville; four grandchildren: David Parman, Jennifer Tulberg, Jason Tulberg and wife Hailey, and Brett Parman and wife Candi; and four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Eliora Parman.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church Batesville with Bro. Stacy Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Batesville.

Pallbearers will be Roger Alpers, Rich Byers, Eddie Cox, Buford Grady, Lewis Hirschy, Norman Terrell. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Deacon Ministry at First Baptist Church Batesville.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 4, 2023, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home chapel.
