The Black River at Black Rock and the White River at Batesville have been “rolling” as a result of the heavy rainfall over the last two days. Some areas have received over three inches of precipitation.
The Black River at Black Rock is projected to experience minor flooding affecting Independence, Jackson, and Lawrence counties at least until Saturday — perhaps longer.
At 10 a.m. Tuesday, the river stage at Black Rock was measured at 15.4 feet. At 2 p.m., it was at 16.94 feet. It is expected to rise to a crest of 18.5 feet by Wednesday morning. It’s then projected to fall below flood stage (14 feet) by Friday evening.
The White River at Batesville measured 6.6 feet at 10 a.m. on Monday. A slow fall is beginning and will continue over the next few days. At 7 a.m. Tuesday, the White River measured 12.02 feet at Batesville. At 2 p.m., it was at 10.59 feet. The minor flood stage on the White River at Batesville at 15 feet.
