Larry Odell Reed, 70, of Newport departed this life on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at his home. He was born November 20, 1952, in Newport, Arkansas to the late Walter (Bo) Reed and Annie Sue Roberts Reed.
He attended the Newport High School District and was a member of the class of 1972. He met and married Thelma Kay Osborne on December 31, 1981, and to this union, three children were born; Tracy A. Reed, Terry A. Reed and son, Larry Tyrone Reed all of Newport.
Larry was a hard worker and worked several jobs to provide for his family. He was a goof-loving husband, father and grandfather. Larry enjoyed fishing, working on cars, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren, which were the joy of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter (Bo) and Annie Sue Reed; one brother, Thomas Reed; one sister, Carrie Butler.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Thelma Reed, of the home; his daughters, Tracy A. Reed and Terry A. Reed of Newport; his son, Larry T. Reed of Newport; his brothers, Joe N. Reed of Los Angeles, California, Walter (Emma) Reed of Augusta, Arkansas, David (Sewonia) Reed of Newport and Eugene Reed of Newport; his sisters, Linetta Reed Gist, Olivia Reed and Merry A. Reed all of Newport; his grandchildren, Cadeidra, Cierra, Anthony, Julian, Demetric, Saniya, Kamdyn, Qierre and Jadarius; seven great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, friends, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank everyone for the love and acts of kindness you have shown our family, whether it was a phone call, a card, an encouraging word, food and most of all, your prayers.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Gilbert Ford, Lorus Dixon, Ricky Steel, Kenny Cox, Robert Floyd and Billy Joe White.
The graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Gum Grove Cemetery.
