John “JC” Qualls, 77, of Evening Shade passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at his home. He was born June 12, 1945, in Evening Shade to Calvin and Lula Qualls. He was a farmer and a member of the Bear Creek Church. He enjoyed collecting knives, farming and searching for arrowheads. He was his grandchildren’s number-one fan during all of their sporting events. He was on the Evening Shade School Board for 22 years and he was an equipment operator and employee for 40 years for the Sharp County Conservation Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Don Qualls and his sister, Carolyn Sharp.
Survivors include his son, Rick Qualls (Cindy) of Evening Shade; his daughters, Sherry Logan (Brian) of Drasco and Jennifer Massey (Tim) of Melbourne; his sisters, Wanda Satterfield and Linda (Donzie) Spurlock; six grandchildren, Joshua Logan, Jacob Logan, Hannah Meurer, Kennedy Cooper, Justus Cooper and Heath Qualls; four great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Bear Creek Church with Barry Farris and Will Mimick officiating. Burial will follow in the Bear Creek Cemetery in Evening Shade with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Visitation will be Friday, January 13, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers are Rick Spurlock, James French, Dale Foley and Barry Farris.
