Jerry Duane Gilbert, 82, of Mountain View, Arkansas, passed away on January 26th, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born September 13th, 1940, in Alco, Arkansas to Orbie and Chloe Mae Caston Gilbert.
Jerry was a devoted Christian and of the Baptist faith. He was a faithful and long-time member of the White Water Missionary Baptist Church, in Mountain View, Arkansas. During the Vietnam War, Jerry served his country proudly in the United States Army. Going to church and reading his bible was most important to him. He also enjoyed hunting (especially deer, turkey, and squirrels), fishing, and planting a big garden, and he loved taking care of his yard with his John Deer mower. Jerry was loved by many family members and friends who will miss him greatly.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of twenty years, Barbara Gilbert; three children, Michael Gilbert of Mountain View, Arkansas, Douglas Gilbert of Batesville, Arkansas, and Kimberly Story (Jonathan) of Cabot, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Casey Armstrong of Heber Springs, Arkansas, Kayla Zajac of Mountain View, Arkansas, and Madelyn and Sarah Story of Cabot, Arkansas; six great-grandchildren, Kayden, Kaylyn, Trenton, Lilly, Kamdyn, and Kenlee. He is also survived by other extended family members and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Orbie and Chloe Gilbert; one sister, Orbelene Brewer.
A visitation will be held Sunday, January 29th, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, at the White Water Missionary Baptist Church, in Mountain View, Arkansas. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with Brother Phil Sutton and Brother Gary Don Fletcher officiating. Interment will take place at Flatwoods Cemetery, in Mountain View, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are Steve Dobbins, Zack Zajac, Jonathan Story, Darin Brewer, Odes Sutton, and Ron Trevarton.
Honorary Pallbearers are Leon Mariott.
