Newport Police identify woman killed in concert shooting

Police have identified the woman killed in a Sunday morning shooting at a concert in Newport.

According to Newport Police Chief Larry Dulaney, Tamrionna Jarrett, 19, of Augusta, died in the shooting incident that occurred at a rap concert at the Old Branch building on Clay Street. The shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. Four others were injured.

Two men were arrested after the shooting with probable cause, but have not been charged, according to Region 8 News. The Jonesboro media outlet says Richard McGee, 31, and Aaron Warren, 28, are currently being held at the Jackson County Jail.

The concert was billed on social media as a “birthday bash” featuring rap artist Fredo Bang (see below). One of the four injured was flown to a hospital for further treatment, according to Region 8 News.

Authorities say more arrests will likely be made, and anyone with information or video of the shooting should contact the Newport Police Department at (870) 523-2722.
