A Batesville woman is facing charges from two incidents in February where she allegedly left minor children under her care unsupervised.
According to information filed in Independence County Circuit Court, Alyssa Michelle Hart, 23, is charged with two felony counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.
The court documents say Batesville police officers were dispatched to the Kroger on St. Louis Street on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 8:10 p.m. concerning a child who had been found walking alone in the roadway at the intersection of St. Louis and College streets.
The court information said the temperature was around 36 degrees, with gusty winds when the child was located.
Authorities allege Hart left the child alone in a nearby apartment after the child’s mother had failed to return and pick up the child at a given time. After further investigation, police discovered another child under Hart’s care had also allegedly been left alone the same night at a local hotel.
Hart was arrested and booked into the Independence County Jail on a bond of $15,000.
