A one-vehicle accident in rural Stone County has claimed the life of a Mountain View man.
Authorities say Michael Eugene McGhee, 74, of Mountain View, was killed Friday morning after his southbound 2004 Jeep Wrangler ran off Highway 5 to the right, overcorrected, crossed the centerline, and then traveled off the east side of the highway before striking a tree.
Arkansas State Police say the road was dry and the sky cloudy at the time of the accident, listed on the fatality report as 10:57 a.m.
The accident marks the 88th fatality on Arkansas highways this year.
