Axios NW Arkansas recently looked at some bills sent to Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ desk since her January inauguration.
A spokesperson for Sanders told the online news outlet the governor has signed more than 140 bills into law since taking office 49 days ago.
The article noted some laws that could have an impact on the day-to-day lives of many Arkansans, such as bills that:
- permit people who have voluntarily sought mental health care to obtain a concealed carry permit for a handgun two years after the treatment has ended;
- restrict adult-oriented performances from public property or anywhere minors might be;
- permit absentee voting for those prevented from doing so due to a religious observance on election day;
- create a special court program for families experiencing neglect issues due to substance use or mental health disorders so that parents receive appropriate treatment to reduce separation from their children;
- and permit law-enforcement officers to take a person in crisis to a hospital or treatment facility, where they can detoxify from alcohol or other substances.
