A Batesville seventh-grader is the 2023 Independence County Spelling Bee winner.
Jacey McIntosh, out-spelled eight other competitors in the spelling bee, which was held last month at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville’s (UACCB) Independence Halland was sponsored by Citizens Bank.
Nine competitors from area schools ranging from fifth to eighth grades competed in the bee.
Midland sixth-grader Katelynn Williford was the runner-up.
Jacey and Katlynn received a $50 and a $25 gift card, respectively, courtesy of Citizens Bank.
