For the second month in a row, the Independence County one-cent countywide tax receipts show a decrease from last year.
The receipts reflect December Christmas sales — sales done in December, sent to the state in January, and returned to the county in February.
Compared to 2022, February sales were down 4.19%. Since January, the receipts — sales from November and December — have collectively seen a 7.49% decrease.
