First Community Bank has announced that Brenda Rivera (pictured) has been promoted to consumer lending and diversity outreach officer.
In her role, the bank said she will continue to grow her loan and deposit portfolio as well as her customer relationships with an emphasis on serving members of the community who are underserved.
Rivera is located at the financial institution’s main bank at 1325 Harrison St. in Batesville.
“My heart has always been in helping others, and with this promotion, doors are opened for another way I can do that,” said Rivera. “One of my goals is to help educate our customers and help them understand the importance of having good credit. I want anyone to feel welcomed and comfortable when they come see me. I am so honored and thrilled to have this opportunity not only as a minority, but also as a woman in banking.”
Rivera started as a teller when she joined First Community Bank in 2018. She then worked in the bank’s insurance department, where she remained until October 2020, when she joined the diversity outreach department as diversity outreach coordinator.
Rivera earned her bachelor’s degree in economics as well as business administration with a concentration in finance from Lyon College in Batesville. She and her husband, Juan Carlos, have four children: Aliyana (7), Julian (5), Agustin (4), and Anthony (1).
“I am excited about the progress that our diversity outreach program has achieved and for this next chapter for First Community Bank, because we are just getting started,” said Bill Oliva, vice president, commercial lending and diversity outreach. “I am thrilled to announce Brenda’s promotion. It is so well deserved, and I am confident that Brenda, with her experience and knowledge, will help us move forward, redefining opportunities for the underserved in our community.”
