A fire destroyed an apartment building and an adjacent camper near Hardy Tuesday afternoon.
Hardy Police Chief Scott Rose said the building, just off Highway 175 next to the Griffin Pub, had been converted into residential apartments. The chief noted everyone, including pets, was able to get out of the building and the camper, which sat behind the apartments. No injuries were reported.
While Rose said Griffin Pub did not burn, the apartment building was a total loss. Reports note it sat on the location of the Old Beach Club. A reader of the Spring River Chronicle posted on its Facebook page that ten renters lost their homes in the fire.
Although Rose could not confirm, the chief said the fire appears to have started in the camper, according to the Hallmark Times. The case is under investigation.
Crews from the Hardy, Highland, and Ash Flat fire departments responded to the fire.
