Two White River Health medical centers have been recognized by a national organization for their performance.

The Chartis Center for Rural Health named White River Medical Center (WRMC) as one of the 2023 Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals and Stone County Medical Center (SCMC) as one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals.

Compiled by the Chartis Center for Rural Health, this annual recognition program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals and critical access hospitals based on the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX.

WRMC and SCMC are hospitals of White River Health, a not-for-profit regional healthcare organization serving north central Arkansas.

“Being a part of the Chartis Center Top 100 list is an honor,” said White River Health President and CEO Gary Paxson, RN, MSN, FACHE. “It is a tangible recognition of the incredible work by our employees to deliver exceptional healthcare to create healthier communities across our service area.”

“Across the nation, top 100 rural providers continue to serve as a source of inspiration for hospital leadership teams and staff working diligently every day to improve the delivery of care within their local communities,” said Michael Topchik, national leader, the Chartis Center for Rural Health. “The list of award winners in each category is as geographically diverse as we’ve seen in some time, which is wonderful to see. We’re thrilled to be able to honor the outstanding efforts of these top-performing rural hospitals.”
