First Community Bank has announced that it will sponsor the 2023 Pioneer Classic baseball tournament. The two-day event will take place on April 14 and 15 at the Terry Sims Diamond Sports Complex.
The 2023 competitions will include six teams from across the state of Arkansas in the 1A – 4A divisions.
“I’m so excited for the kids to have this opportunity,” said Batesville High School head baseball coach Tony Roepcke. “I’m glad that First Community Bank has been such a great partner. This means a lot to the students and their families—it’s important to them.”
The annual Pioneer Classic draws out-of-town visitors to the Batesville area during its weekend tournament, with many staying overnight in hotels. This influx of tourists has positively impacted numerous local businesses — including restaurants and retailers — by increasing sales.
Tournament tickets are $5 each day and will be sold at the gate.
“We have been pleased to be a part of the growth of this event over the years, because there’s nothing more important to us than giving back to our communities,” Boris Dover, the bank’s president and chief operating officer, said in the release.
