Jeal Dean (Pogue) Thomas, 81, of Mountain View, Arkansas, passed away on April 5th, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Jeal was born on July 28th, 1941, in Fifty-Six, Arkansas, to the late Henry Washington and Leona Riffee (Wrinkle) Pogue.
Jeal was a saved and devoted Christian. She was a long-time member of Fifty-Six Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Most of all, she loved going to church. She was loved by many people and will be greatly missed.
Jeal is survived by her loving husband of sixty-one years, Don Thomas; one son, Richard Thomas (Tami); one daughter, Pam Smith (Greg); four grandchildren, Dexter Thomas, Makenzie Thomas, Mitchell Smith, and Matthew Smith (Olivia); one great-granddaughter, Sophia Smith; one sister, Dorothy Thomas; one sister-in-law, Jane Thomas. Jeal is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends who were all precious to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Leona Pogue; baby brother, Huey Pogue; one sister, Wanda Ashley (Dowice); two brothers-in-law, Gayler Thomas and Jack Thomas; one sister-in-law, Jean Whitfield (James).
A visitation will be held Monday, April 10th, 2023 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the Fifty-Six Missionary Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Brother Rob Arnold and Brother Luther Branscum will officiate the service. Interment will take place at the Fifty-Six Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the three deacons of Fifty-Six Missionary Baptist Church; Joey Thomas, Harold Alcorn, and Davy Balentine—also, her three grandsons; Dexter Thomas, Mitchell Smith, and Matthew Smith.
Honorary Pallbearers will be three long-time friends; Fred Ward, Bob Balentine, and Ronnie Anderson—also, three family members; RL Pogue, Greg Thomas, and Brad Ashley.
