Ray Ball, 86, of Newport passed from this life on Friday, April 7, 2023. He was born in Newport on April 14, 1936, to Elmer and Pearl (Arnold) Ball.
Ray was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and any other activity that allowed him to be outdoors. He was a family man who loved his family and enjoyed taking care of them, therefore he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Larry Ray Ball; his brothers, Johnny Ball, Dean Ball and Elmer Dale Ball; his sisters, Francie Myers, Mary Helmes and Gladys Helmes.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Rebecca Ball; his sons, James Ball (Tabitha) of Newport, Randy Ball of Newport, and Johnny Ball of Newport; his grandchildren, Jeremy Ball, Brandi Ball, Brannon Ball, Josh Ball, William Ball, Jaslyn Ball, Jayden Ball and Hope Ball; thirteen great-grandchildren; and special daughter-in-law, Sherry Doyle of Cord.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jimmy Brumley, Earl Crawford, Bobby Bennett, Dennis, Whaley, Mike Hinkle, and Greg Cathy. Honorary pallbearers are Josh Fears, David Brown, Michael Brown, Trevor Ruddell, Chad Mullins, and Matt Cathy
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 11, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Dillinger Funeral Home. Service will be Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Albert Mullins officiating. The interment will be at Watson Cemetery.
