Sanford St. John, 88, of Batesville passed away Monday, April 24, 2023, in Batesville. He was born July 3, 1934, in Hoxie to Otto and Velva (Riggs) St. John. He was a supervisor with the City of Batesville where he worked for 53 years under six Mayors. He was devoted to working and spending time with his wife.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Willene St. John; two brothers, Lenard St. John and Tommy St, John; and two sisters, Betty Arie and Juanita Rudick.
He is survived by two sons; Dennis St. John (Barbara) of Marcella and Danny St. John (Diann) of Batesville; one daughter, Debra St. John (Kenny) of Batesville; two sisters, Levada Coles of Southside and Lydia Rudick of Cave City; three grandchildren, Michael St. John, Mary Reynolds and Carrie St. John; three great-grandchildren, Nate, Chloe and Joseph; and several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Larry Sellers officiating. Entombment will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be William “Wigg” Wells, Johnny Coles, Richard Taylor, Brandon Wood, Arthur Montgomery and Jerid Milam.
