Obituary: Kenneth Wayne “Pete” Gass

Kenneth Wayne “Pete” Gass, 75, of Pleasant Plains, departed this life on Saturday, May 6, 2023, in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  He was born on in Batesville May 10, 1947, to James William Gass and Winnie Sample Gass.  During his working years, he was a truck driver of which he enjoyed driving for over thirty-two years. He served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He and Bertha Mae Rickett were united in marriage on March 1, 1968, in Bradford, Arkansas.  He was of the Pentecostal Faith.

He enjoyed riding horses with his granddaughter, Kerstie, and going on trail rides, and playing cards.   He loved reading his Bible and looked forward to seeing Jesus.  He loved his family dearly and his dog, Sissy.

Pete is survived by his wife, Bertha, of the home: son, Kenny Gass, of Nebraska; daughter, Michelle (Kevin) Redman, of Pleasant Plains; sisters, Geneva Jones, of Searcy, and Ann Willis, of Batesville; granddaughter, Kerstie (Hayden) Metzger, of Pleasant Plains; and a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Mae Metzger, who is due to arrive in September; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Doty Southside Funeral Service, 2180 Batesville Blvd, Southside with Bro. Bobby Majors officiating.  Burial will follow in the McMullin Cemetery in Pleasant Plains.

Pallbearers will be James Lee Rickett, Dustin Furrow, Jacob Roberson, Johnnie Milller, Nathan Rickett, Keleb Redman, Skyler Furrow, and Hayden Metzger.

Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Hatfield, Kevin Redman, Larry Roberson, Nicholas Furrow, and Kenny Gass.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 10, 2023, in the Chapel of Doty Southside Funeral Service from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
