Daniel Latus and Ethan Price were recently named 2023 Arkansas Eastman Trust Scholarship recipients. The scholarship program was established in 1993 to encourage and assist area students pursuing math or science-related careers.
Daniel is the son of Linda and the late George Latus. He is a graduate of Batesville High School and plans to attend Missouri S&T in Rolla, Mo. As a member of the college’s honors program, Daniel will be pursuing a double major in aerospace engineering and mechanical engineering.
Ethan is also a graduate of Batesville High School and will be seeking an engineering degree in either mechanical engineering or biomedical engineering at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. His parents are Erin and Kristi Price.
The trust was established, in part, in remembrance of the victims of the 1990 plane crash that took the lives of Arkansas Eastman employees Nathan Casteel, William Schirmer, Randy Wood, and retired president M. L. Gernert and his wife, Marian. A scholarship committee of FutureFuel Chemical Company (formerly Arkansas Eastman) employees and community representatives selects scholarship recipients based on their field of study, academic performance, and school and community citizenship.
