A 40-year-old Mountain View man is currently in jail on a $250,000 bond after being charged in Stone County Circuit Court with eight felonies, five of those drug-related.

Court information says on May 25, 2023, 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force members and Mountain View Police officers executed a search warrant at the Nathan Cole Woods residence in Mountain View.

After Woods (pictured below) and two others in the home were detained, a search of the premises found numerous firearms, firearm magazines, ammunition, meth, used and new baggies, and a digital weighing scale, according to the arrest affidavit.

The affidavit also said police found a sawed-off shotgun, a pistol, a homemade silencer for the pistol, bottles of Tannerite, and shotgun shells. Hydrocodone and other pills were also located at the residence. And in a building in the back of the residence, officers found three live improvised explosive devices (IED). Since Woods is a previously convicted felon, authorities say he is prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm.

In a police interview after the incident, Woods said pills found in one room belonged to him. The affidavit also said Woods confessed to buying, selling, and trading guns and admitted to making the IED.

In addition to maintaining a drug premises and four other drug-related felonies, Woods is charged with criminal possession of explosive materials, possession of firearms by a certain person (previously convicted felon), and criminal possession of a prohibited weapon.
