Peggy Ann (Jarrett) Warren, 79, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2023, at her home in Newark, Arkansas.
Peggy was born on November 6, 1943, in Newark, Arkansas. Peggy was the second of four children and the only daughter of Denver Jarrett and Pauline (Purdom) Jarrett. She graduated from Newark High School in 1961. She went on to attend Arkansas State University, graduating with a degree in Elementary Education in 1964. She immediately began her teaching career in Hughes, Arkansas, before teaching briefly in Newport, Arkansas, and then coming home to teach in the Newark, later Cedar Ridge, school district in 1967. She subsequently obtained a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from ASU in 1976, and a Specialist’s degree in Elementary Guidance Counseling from ASU in 1987. Peggy’s 54-year teaching career (51 years with Newark/Cedar Ridge) was mostly as a kindergarten teacher, where she shared her infectious joy of learning and life with at least three generations of students.
Peggy is survived by her husband Ed, her son David Goerisch (Bonnie Clair), and her beloved grandson Denver. She is also survived by her brothers Dennis Jarrett (Debbie) and Charlie Jarrett (Sharon), numerous nieces and nephews, and countless number of students whose lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Willis Funeral Service Chapel from 2 PM – 4 PM.
