After winning the 5A State Championship title in April, the Batesville Pioneers quiz bowl team placed 215 out of 303 teams at the 2023 NAQT High School National Championship Tournament in Atlanta in late May. (NAQT is the acronym for National Academic Quiz Tournaments.)
Batesville’s Ty Bishop ranked 234 out of 1500, and incoming senior Alexander Tenace ranked 344 out of 1500. The individuals were ranked based on points per 20 tossups heard.
Under the leadership of head coach Bryce Grant, the 2023 Batesville quiz bowl team included Bishop and Tenace, along with senior Dylan Story, junior Charles Stinnett, sophomore Quentin Hanson, freshman Gwen Goodwin, freshman Asher Stroud, freshman Brayden Johnson, freshman Taylor Bishop, freshman Mai-Lan Ho, and assistant coach Noah Chaffin.
