Batesville Area Young Artists awards ceremony and reception tomorrow

The public is invited.

Winners of the inaugural Batesville Area Young Artists (BAYA) competition will be announced during an awards ceremony and reception Thursday, June 8, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Kresge Gallery in the Alphin Humanities Building on the Lyon College campus, 2300 Highland Rd., in Batesville. The public is invited.

Mountain Home artist and guest juror Dusty Mitchell juried more than two dozen art submissions. The first-place winner will receive a cash prize of $300, while the second and third-place winners will receive $200 and $100, respectively.

Honorable mentions will receive $50 art gift cards. In addition to the cash prizes, the top five winners will receive Lyon College art scholarships of up to $500 per year.

The exhibition is open to the public through Friday, Aug. 4. Kresge Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays during the summer months. Admission is free.
