Rex Ronald “Ron” Webb
of Newark, Ark.

November 17, 1947 – June 7, 2023

Rex Ronald ”Ron” Webb, 75, of Newark, Arkansas went to be with his Savior on June 7, 2023.

He was born on November 17, 1947, in Batesville to Columbus Andrew and Nellie Francis Burge Webb and was raised in Maple Springs.

He had a long and successful career in new car sales before fulfilling a life-long dream of serving as a police officer. He was an Independence County Deputy when he ran for Circuit and Chancery Court Clerk, an office he held from January 1, 1985, until December 31, 1992. He was elected Independence County Sheriff in November of 1992 and served the citizens from January 1, 1993, to December 31, 2000. He served on the National Sheriffs Association Board and enjoyed networking with law enforcement personnel from all over the nation. He eventually returned to his love of selling cars until his retirement.

Ron was the longest-standing member of Maple Springs Baptist Church and served many years on the Board of Trustees for the church. He also previously served on the Cemetery and Community School Boards.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gerald Webb, and his nieces Carolyn King and Charlotte Knight.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Dr. Ann Webb, three daughters, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild: Ronda Webb Self (Todd) and their children Cameron and Nathan Self of Bryant; Terri Ann Ford (Tommy) and their children Taylor Ford (Baylea), Hadley and Presley Cunningham of Batesville, and their granddaughter Tessa Drew Ford; Lindsay Webb Haivala (Danny) and their children Lucas Tallant, Hayden and Halle Haivala, and Parker Webb Tallant of Midwest City, Oklahoma. Ron loved spending time with and spoiling his grandkids! He is also survived by his brother Max Webb of Newport and sister Lockie Webb McCoy (James) of Newark, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers are Chad Webb, Scott McCoy, Tommy Ford, Joe Goings, Nathan Self, and Hayden Haivala. Honorary Pallbearers include Ken Webb, Marty Goings, Shane Goings, Taylor Ford, and Lucas Tallant.

Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Maple Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Curt Howard and Dr. Todd Self officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Springs Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the church prior to service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maple Springs Baptist Church.
