David Richard Hood, 59, passed away on June 14, 2023. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on March 25, 1964, to Sam and Virginia Hood.
A beloved father, husband, and friend, David always made time for those close to him. His unwavering love and support were treasured among those he cared for. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether relaxing by the pool or at the lake with Friends and Family. David loved his Harley and took time for a ride to find peace and relaxation. David owned Hood Pool Service, pool construction was a passion of his throughout his career, he enjoyed the work he did to bring fun into others’ lives. David’s passion for his work was matched only by his fandom for the Arkansas Razorbacks. David will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his nephews, Marc Sanders and William Hood; brother-in-law, Jimmy Sanders; and Kenneth May. He is survived by his father, Sam Hood (Joann) of Walnut Ridge; mother, Virginia Hood of Sulphur Rock; loving wife of 24 years, Sue Hood of the home; sons, David Hood (Lauren) of Omaha, Nebraska, James Duarte of Ames, Iowa, and Joey Duarte of Ames, Iowa; daughters, Samantha Hood of the home and Melissa Mace (Justin) of Nevada, Iowa; brother, Joey Cooper (Lindsey) of Hoxie, Arkansas; sisters, Cynthia Bass (Charlie) of Bethesda, Arkansas, Deborah Sanders of Batesville, Arkansas, Annetta Hood (Steve Saunders) of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Declan Hood, Gavin Hood, Sailyer Duarte, Cohen Duarte, Seth Duarte, Emily Duarte, Dillon Duarte, Gabriel Duarte, Chloe Mace, and Colbie Mace; as well as many extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held at Willis Funeral Service on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. The funeral service, officiated by Sam Manuel, will follow the visitation, starting at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Campground Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers are David Hood, Travis Hunter, Walter Coleman, James Duart, Charlie Bass, Donald Riley, Steven Bass, and Patrick Jones. The family would like to recognize the following people as honorary pallbearers: Chris Sanders and Scott Matheny.
