Bertha Opal Pelley, aged 105, of Conway, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023. Born to Francis and Mary Hancock on March 16, 1918, in the serene town of Oil Trough, Arkansas, Bertha’s life was a testament to love, warmth, and devotion. With a heart overflowing with affection, she adored her family, finding immeasurable joy in the presence of her beloved grandchildren. Bertha’s playful spirit knew no bounds, as she always welcomed lively card games and spirited rounds of Dominoes.

Her talents extended beyond the game table, as she delighted in preparing delectable meals for her cherished family. A culinary artist, Bertha’s kitchen was a place of love and comfort, where her culinary creations nourished not only the body but also the soul. She was equally skilled with a needle and thread, creating beautiful quilts that became treasured heirlooms.

Bertha found solace in the embrace of nature. The great outdoors beckoned her, and she reveled in the serenity of her garden, nurturing vibrant blooms and flourishing plants. Fishing, too, held a special place in her heart, providing her with tranquil moments of reflection and connection with the world around her.

Bertha Opal Pelley leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering devotion to family. Her gentle spirit and joyful presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James A. Pelley; her sons, James A. Pelley Jr., Ronald T. Pelley and infant son, Jessie D. Pelley; her brothers, Harlin Lee Hancock, Shelby, Ray; her sisters, Flossie Beard, Mabel Pigg, Violet Horton, Betty Patrick.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Scott Pelley (Laura) of Greenbriar and Hunter Pelley of Mountain Home; her great-grandchildren Tyler Pelley, Savannah Pelley, Madison Pelley, Morgan Pelley Megan Pelley and Noah Pelley; her great-great-grandchild, Briley Dey and her sister, Betty.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Scott Pelley, Hunter Pelley, Tyler Pelley, Noah Pelley, Peyton Dey and Parker Prock.

Service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Dillinger Funeral Home with Brother Thomas Captain officiating.  Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time.
