Gary McGinnis,69, of Tuckerman departed from this life on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. He was born in Newport on May 13, 1954, to Monta Ray and Laura Jean (Gilliam) McGinnis.
Gary was a truck driver by trade but enjoyed working on the tractor with his brother, Micheal. He also enjoyed arrowhead and marble hunting in Battle Ax. His favorite thing to do was shop for trucks. He also liked hanging out with his friends at the Senior Citizen luncheons.
He was preceded in death by his father, his brother, Michael McGinnis and the love of his life, his wife, Sandy McGinnis.
He is survived by his mother, Laura Jean McGinnis of Sheridan; his sons, Gary Edwin McGinnis II (Coleda) of Gans, Oklahoma and James Ray McGinnis (Christina) of Shady Point, Oklahoma; his daughters, Julie Ann Ellis (Brandon) of Gore, Oklahoma and Tina Lynn Smith of Tuckerman and the light of his life, Mercedes Osier (Nick) of McCrory; his brother, Timothy McGinnis (Angel) of Tuckerman; his sisters, Cynthia Landers (Ellis) of Sheridan, Teresa Odom (R.J.) of Sheridan and Sandra Fry of Tuckerman; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Gary McGinnis II, James McGinnis, Chad Odom, Jeremy Odom, Shane Odom, Jeff McGinnis, Adam Reed and Brandon Ellis. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Newberry, Scotty Cason, Mark Wadley and Walter Winkles.
Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Dillinger Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will be at Dowell’s Chapel Cemetery.
