Obituary: Kathlene Pectol

Mrs. Kathlene (Branscum) Pectol of Newark, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the age of 94. She was born July 19, 1929, the daughter of Thomas Edmond Branscum and Meda (Young) Branscum.

Mrs. Pectol was a homemaker and a member of the Magness Church of Christ. When she was younger, she was a member of the Newark Volunteer Fire Department. She liked hunting rabbits and deer, studying genealogy, and gardening. She especially enjoyed visiting her family.

Mrs. Pectol was preceded in death by her husband, Clemons Eugene “Gene” Pectol; her parents; five brothers, Ulis Branscum, Archie Branscum, Logan Branscum, Marcus Edmond Branscum and John Ed Branscum; and four sisters, Evelene Branscum McBride, Faye Branscum Elumbaugh, Wanda Lee Branscum Lingo and May Elizabeth Branscum Fike.

She is survived by two sons, Rickey Allen Curtis and wife, Rebecca, of Cornelia, Georgia and Ernest Gene Pectol and wife, Donna, of Magness; two daughters, Arrita Curtis Barnes and husband, Finis, of Newark and Janis Janette Curtis Shane of Batesville; one sister, Emma J. Branscum Keever of Melbourne; nine grandchildren, Randy Shane and wife, Jamie, of Batesville, Kyley Barnes and wife, Christie, of Kansas City, Tonya Johnson and husband, Kevin, of Batesville, Ashley Brickey and husband, Jason, of Batesville, Shelley McCormick of Batesville, Meshell Gipson and husband, Terry, of Newark, Alyssa Broadway and husband, Jason, of Newark, Gregory Pectol and wife, Candace, of Magness, and Joshua Curtis and wife, Carlan, of Cornelia, Georgia; twenty-nine great grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, at Magness Church of Christ. Interment will follow in Blue Springs Cemetery.

The family of Mrs. Kathlene Pectol would like to thank Pioneer Therapy and Living for the loving care given by the staff.
