Independence County Judge Kevin Jeffery sends video of The Beast (scroll down), a shredder recently purchased by the City of Batesville that quickly turns brush into chips.
For its maiden voyage to its first job, an Independence County semi equipment truck moved The Beast to a lot being cleared on Oak Street, just west of the new Batesville Police Department headquarters under development.
A 750-hp Caterpillar engine powers the Beast, and according to the driver of the county’s semi that hauled the unit, the trailer’s tongue weight from the haul was “massive.”
Jeffery said the county assisted with the move while Batesville city leaders continue looking for a truck to help regularly haul the mammoth machine.
