Eagle Mountain Elementary (EME) students and their families will have an opportunity to meet the school’s new principal at an icy treat-themed event next week.

EME will host “Popsicles with the Principal” Thursday, Aug. 10, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the school’s playground to welcome Principal Rickey Everett.

Originally from Duck Hill, Miss., Everett attended Lyon College (Arkansas College), where he played basketball and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in PE and health (1981) and in career orientation (2005). He has served as a teacher, coach, and mentor for many students. He completed his master’s program in educational leadership (2012) from Arkansas State University. He has served as an administrative leader at Augusta, Marion, and Blytheville.

Everett and his wife, Francine, with their daughter, Amari, are excited to return to Batesville and begin this chapter of their lives.

“I am so grateful and excited to be coming to Batesville and Eagle Mountain Elementary. Batesville made me feel loved on day one, gave me my first job out of college, and found my future bride, Francine Barris.” said Everett. “I now get an opportunity to return ‘home’ to work with an amazing, diverse community of educators and stakeholders, and allow my little girl the opportunity to receive a quality education from a top district. I am very grateful to Dr. Michael Hester, the BSD School Board, the interview selection committee, and everyone that played a role in my coming home to be a part of the Eagle Mountain family. Thank you for all that you do for EME.”
