Ruby Tennessee (Rice) Bryant of Amagon, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at the age of 99. She was born April 18, 1924 in Marshall, North Carolina, the daughter of Pascal Comodore and Annie Mae (McClean) Rice.
Mrs. Bryant was a graduate of Red Oak High School in North Carolina, where she played on the basketball team. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and gardening, and loved animals.
The most important role she played in life was that of a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Bryant was a homemaker, who spent countless hours taking care of her home and her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton H. Bryant; three sons, Clifton H. Bryant, Jr., Leo Pascal Bryant, and John Q. Bryant; two brothers, James Orville Rice and Leo Pascal Rice; three sisters, Molly Jane Rice, Hazel Zorra Buckner, and Catherine Leona Martin; and her parents.
Mrs. Bryant is survived by one daughter, Leona Bryant Antilley and husband, James, of Amagon; two sons, John Anthony Bryant of Mississippi, and James Grady Bryant and wife, Vanessa, of Wiggins, Mississippi; ten grandchildren, Tiffany Thomas Cloud and husband, Ron, James G. Bryant, Jr., Jessie Bryant, Jamie Carmouche, J.J. Bryant, Elizabeth Hiscott and husband, Jim, Harold L. Gautro, Jr., and wife, Camilla, John Quincey Bryant, III, Christopher Thomas, and Vincent Thomas; several great and great-great grandchildren; and a lifetime of friends.
Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Balch-Johnston Cemetery with Mr. Donnie Combs officiating.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Ron Cloud, Nicky Jackson, Scott Balch, Beau Loftin, Dennis Mann, and Leo Ryan. Honorary pallbearers are Jacob Carmouche, Garrett Cloud, James Antilley, John A. Bryant, James G. Bryant, Harold Gautro, Jr., and Marcus Balch.
