Batesville man inducted into state U.S. Bowling Congress Hall of Fame

Ron Trusty of Batesville was recently inducted into the Arkansas State USBC (United States Bowling Congress) Hall of Fame for Performance on the University of Central Arkansas campus in Conway.

A member of the USBC, the Batesville USBC, and the American Bowling Congress and USBC, Trusty started his bowling career at the age of 11 in Memphis, Tenn. youth leagues and, finally, in adult leagues.

Trusty has served numerous times as a league official and in local association offices. He has always been available to assist in any position, whether he was an official or not.

He has participated in numerous local and national tournaments and PRO-AM events. He has bowled three 300 games — five 700 series, with 791 being the highest and 205 being the highest league average. He received the individual State Award for Bowler of the Year in 1982 and the Arkansas Gazette Bowler of the Year for the 1982-1983 season. He has received a Star on the Hollywood Bowl Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Batesville UBC Hall of Fame in 2005.

Trusty joins three other Hall of Famers associated with Hollywood Bowl. They include Charlie Jeffery, Shane Gilmore, and Dee Dee Jeffery.
