Major traffic snarls Friday afternoon accident; two injuries reported

A multi-vehicle accident on Heber Springs Road near Desha Friday afternoon left a major amount of damage and a traffic delay, but no fatalities were reported.

According to the Batesville Fire Department (BFD) release, two people were extracted from an SUV involved in the incident that also included a pick-up truck and two concrete trucks.

The truck and one of the concrete trucks overturned in the accident. According to the BFD, the two patients extracted were transferred via Vital Link for medical care.

The BFD credited the Desha Fire Department, the Independence County Sheriff’s Department, Vital Link EMS, and the Arkansas State Police for their assistance.
