The Independence County Senior Citizens Program is hosting a Senior Health Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023.
This is one of the few health fairs in Independence County designed to provide basic health services and information to senior citizens living in the area.
The health fair, which is free and open to all senior citizens over the age of 60, will take place at the Independence County Senior Citizen Center, located at 1590 College St., in Batesville, Ark.
We will have many information booths, as well as free screenings.
- Flu, COVID, and pneumonia vaccines will be provided by Econo-Mart Pharmacy;
- Blood sugar tests will be provided by Mountain Meadows Health & Rehabilitation;
- Cholesterol screening will be provided by Arkansas Minority Health Commission;
- Massage therapy and Reiki Mini-sessions will be provided by River Thistle Spa.
- Batesville Eye Care will provide eyeglass adjustments.
- Approve Home Medical and Vital Link will both be on-site, doing blood pressure and taking glucose levels.
- GTS Physical Therapy will be providing a balance test.
- Legacy Hospice will be here providing blood pressure screening and hospice information.
- Amedysis Home Health and Palliative Community Resources will be providing blood pressure checks.
Several information booths, including medical alerts, hospice, behavioral, and general health by White River Health, Cigna, Elite Home Health, The Springs, White River Area Agency on Aging, Home Instead, and Kindred Hospice will also be on-site with information regarding services available.
Selina Wallis will be available to schedule counseling appointments for Medicare Part D Open Enrollment. We will have door prizes, and lunch will be served at noon.
Lunch will consist of turkey with gravy, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, and pumpkin pie. The suggested lunch contribution for seniors over 60 is $4.00. For ages under 60, lunch cost is $8.00 per plate.
